Audiology

At Beacon Audiology we practice diagnostic audiology at the highest level, assessing and managing all types hearing and balance disorders in children and adults.

Beacon Audiology offers diagnostic audiology at the highest level as well as management of all types of hearing and balance disorders in both children and adults.

Beacon Audiology works in close collaboration with Ear, Nose & Throat Consultants, Neurologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Educational Psychologists at Beacon Hospital as well as with GPs located in the primary care setting.

Diagnostic Audiology

Beacon Audiology provides a comprehensive diagnostic audiology service for all ages using state of the art equipment in a state-of-the-art clinic with highly qualified, experienced, friendly and professional staff.

  • Newborn Hearing

    One to two babies in every 1,000 born in Ireland are born with a hearing loss in one or both ears. Most of these are born to families with no history of hearing loss.

  • Child Hearing

    All children should have a full hearing assessment prior to commencing school. This is important even where there are no perceived hearing problems.

  • Adult Hearing

    Hearing loss in adults can be inherited or can be acquired as a result of illness.

  • Electrophysiological Testing

    Beacon Audiology offers a full range of electrophysiological assessments.

  • Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) Assessments

    Beacon Audiology is the first and only clinic in Ireland to offer the gold standard of APD assessments and treatment protocols.

  • Online Hearing Test

Balance Assessments

The purpose of a balance assessment is to evaluate the possible cause of dizziness, imbalance and vertigo. A full balance assessment at Beacon Audiology includes the following tests:

  • Balance Platform / Sway Test

  • Visualnystagmography (VNG) / Electronystagmography (ENG) Test

  • Video Head Impulse (vHIT) Test

  • Computerized Dynamic Posturography (CDP)

  • Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP’s) Test
