Dr Siobhra O’Sullivan Talks New Cancer Treatment Technology with Pat Kenny on Newstalk

Dr Siobhra O’Sullivan, Consultant Radiation Oncologist, recently spoke to Newstalk’s Pat Kenny about the new RapidArc Dynamic (RAD) cancer treatment. 

Beacon Hospital is proud to be the first in Ireland and the UK (and only the fifth in Europe) to use this incredible new technology with our Varian TrueBeam to treat cancer. 

RAD offers a number of advantages over current radiotherapy treatments. It enables more complex computer modelling of radiation dose distribution to the tumour, helping to reduce the dose to surrounding healthy tissue, while also allowing clinicians to increase the dose to the tumour where appropriate. 

Combined with HyperSight technology on the Varian TrueBeam, this allows for more precise treatment delivery to the tumour.
