Dr Eimear McHugh is a Specialist Oral Surgeon. She provides a full range of services in Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry.
Dr McHugh is registered with the Irish Dental Council (registration number 95/08) and she is also on the Oral Surgery Specialist List (Irish Dental Council.)
She is a member of the Irish Dental Association and the Irish Association of Oral Surgery.
She is also an examiner in the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland.
Dr. McHugh graduated with Honours from Trinity College Dublin in 2008. Following a year as a House Officer in the Dublin Dental University Hospital, she was employed in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit in St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester, West Sussex. During this time, Dr McHugh completed her Membership Examinations for the Faculty of Dentistry in the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. She also obtained certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support.
She then became the Executive Registrar in the Dublin Dental University Hospital and provided Oral Surgery services at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital and Crumlin Hospital for Sick Children.
She completed her specialist training over three years at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, where she was awarded a doctorate in Oral Surgery and graduated with First Class Honours. She also successfully completed the Advanced Cardiac Life Support course during this time. Her doctoral thesis was entitled “The role of alcohol in oral cancer.” She has written a number of scientific papers, which have been published in the Journal of the Irish Dental Association and The Surgeon.
In 2014, following her specialist training, Dr McHugh became a Fellow of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Dr McHugh currently holds a teaching post at the Dublin Dental University Hospital and she is listed on the Consultant Register in the Beacon Hospital.
Dr Edward Owens is the Director of the Beacon Dental Clinic and is a clinical specialist in Prosthodontics (Restorative) & Implant Dentistry.
The Prosthodontic & Implant service is comprehensive & includes the assessment of individualised patient needs. Patient care assessment includes clinical assessment, the utilisation of diagnostics & dental models/casts & dental CT scanning (where indicated). The information gathered is fundamental to fully assessing each patient’s clinical needs. Patient treatment planning, based on the findings of the assessment, is central to patient treatment options and clinical care.
The service includes patient assessment & individualised patient reports based on clinical findings. The restoration of the patient’s dental health to full function is achieved through the elimination of dental disease, the restoration of dentition through several treatment options. These frequently include dental crowns, bridge options, implant restoration along with dental fixed & removable patient treatment options.
Dental esthetics & sleep apnoea appliances are also part of Prosthodontic dental specialist services.
Patients are referred by General Dental practices to the Beacon Dental Clinic by mail, phone, fax or email.
Mr Andrew Norris provides the oral surgical service for patients referred to the Beacon Dental Clinic, at the Beacon Consultants Clinic. The oral surgery service is comprehensive & includes the assessment of individualised patient needs. Patient care assessment includes the utilisation of diagnostics & dental scanning (where indicated) to fully assess each patient’s clinical needs.
The service includes the removal of decayed or impacted teeth & dental supernumeraries, the treatment of soft and hard tissue abnormalities, patient bone grafting and dental implant assessment & placement. Patient treatment can be carried out using local anaesthesia with or without conscious sedation or with general anaesthesia in the Beacon Hospital. Patient referrals can be made via mail, phone, fax or email.
Aifric Ní Chaollaí is a Paediatric Dentist working in practice in Dublin since completing her three year Masters Degree at the Leeds Dental Institute in 2009.
Having received her dental degree at Trinity College, Dublin in 2000, Aifric also worked as a house officer at the Dublin Dental hospital for one year. She spent the following few years working in both the Health Service Executive’s Dental Service, and also part-time at the Dublin Dental Hospital, where she worked both in the Oral Surgery (Sedation Unit) and in the Restorative Special Needs clinic, and one year was spent working as Dental Registrar at Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin. Aifric has travelled to Moldova on two occasions to work in a girls’ orphanage.
Following completion of the Masters in Paediatric Dentistry at the Leeds Dental Institute in 2009, Aifric was awarded Membership in Paediatric Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow. During her three years in Leeds, she also worked as a community dental officer.
