Sheena Smith is a Clinical Specialist physiotherapist in the Beacon Hospital, specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation, a post she commenced in 2008. Sheena is an honours physiotherapy graduate from the University of Wales, College Of Medicine in 2002. In addition to her physiotherapy degree, Sheena also holds a National Certificate in Applied Physiology and Health Science which she completed in 1999. More recently in 2015, Sheena completed her Masters in Trauma and Orthopaedics from the University of Salford, Manchester which is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons, England. She completed her dissertation on day 0 physiotherapy rehabiliation following total knee replacement surgery.
Sheena has also worked for four years in a number of National Health Service trusts throughout Wales across a variety of specialties, before returning to Ireland in 2006 where she worked in both the Roscommon County Hospital and St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin.
Sheena has completed at club and county level in Gaelic Football, Hockey, Swimming and Lifesaving. She has been a committee member for the national clinical interest group for orthopaedics. Sheena has an avid interest in active rehabilitation in the multi-disciplinary team setting, with special interest in joint replacement and ligament reconstruction surgeries, ensuring optimal patient care.
