Ruth Whelan is the Allied Therapy Manager in Beacon Hospital.
She graduated from University College Dublin with an honours degree in 2000 and also received a first class Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from University College Dublin in 2005. Ruth worked for six years in St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin. During this time, she was Senior in both Musculoskeletal Outpatients and in clinical education and also lectured in Orthopaedics on the undergraduate programme for UCD. In her spare time, Ruth worked as team physiotherapist with many sporting teams including rugby, golf and hockey teams at both local, provincial and national levels.
Ruth joined Beacon Hospital in 2006 as the Physiotherapy Manager. Under her management, the rehabilitation services have grown and Ruth now successfully manages all allied therapy services which include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, hand therapy, lymphoedema therapy and speech and language therapy.
In 2007, Ruth successfully completed the Stott Pilates Instructors course and in 2008 obtained further professional qualification in Acupuncture.
Ruth enjoys leading a dynamic team of rehabilitation therapists.
