Road Closure on Blackthorn Road from 19th January by DLR County Council
Important – Temporary Road Closure – Blackthorn Road
As part of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Sandyford Urban Framework Plan, Blackthorn Road will be closed from Monday 19 January 2026 for a period of 12 weeks. A diversion route will be in place during this time.
This road closure will affect traffic and will impact patient and visitors to Beacon Hospital.
While the closure is not directly outside Beacon Hospital, it is expected to impact traffic in the surrounding area and may affect journey times, particularly for those travelling via Burton Hall Road. Please allow extra time for travelling to the hospital and parking.
The works will facilitate the creation of a new road link between Blackthorn Road and the roundabout at M50 Junction 14. More information on the works and DLR County Council’s Sandyford Urban Framework Plan can be read on the DRL website.
We strongly encourage patients and visitors to plan their journey in advance and allow extra time for travel during this period.
Our priority is to ensure your visit to Beacon Hospital is as comfortable and efficient as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your understanding.
