New Radiology PET-CT Machine

Last week we celebrated the opening of our brand-new PET-CT Machine in Beacon Hospital’s Radiology Department.

A special thanks to all who worked behind the scenes to get to this moment, including our Radiology team, Patient Services, Projects, Facilities and GE. In addition, we were delighted to welcome team members from GE to celebrate with us on the day.

The new GE Discovery MI Gen2 is a state-of-the-art system and is the only Gen2 machine in Ireland. The GE Discovery MI Gen2 is fully digital with the latest technology. It offers an improved experience for patients as there is a shorter scan time with a lower radiation dose administered to the patient. It also provides improved image quality and benefits staff with lower occupational exposure to radiation.
