Dr Basabjit Das Talks About Chronic Pain

Dr Basabjit Das, Consultant in Pain Medicine here at Beacon Hospital, spoke to Kieran Cuddihy on Newstalk about Chronic Pain.
Dr Das covered what chronic pain is, and how it can be managed. In Ireland, it is estimated that up to 600,000 people deal with chronic pain. Dr Das spoke about the chronic pain he sees in his patients, usually back pain. Another common form of chronic pain is facial pain, neck pain or headaches.
Chronic pain becomes more complex the longer it goes on. Dr Das discussed how pain is a disease and pain will spread if it is neglected. Dr Das stressed that if you have pain that is not going away, go and get it checked! The longer pain is left the worse it will get.
