Beacon Brain Institute now offers a Post-Stroke Secondary Prevention Clinic.
The clinics will offer expert Stroke Consultant consultation and review as well as additional testing, neurovascular imaging reported on by specialist Consultant Neuroradiologists, secondary prevention methods and more.

Patients with high-risk markers or those who may be experiencing a stroke should attend their nearest public Emergency Department without delay. A TIA is a medical emergency and should be treated as such.
Post-Stroke Secondary Prevention Clinic
Our Post-Stroke Secondary Prevention Clinic offers patients access to specialist Stroke Consultants. The Clinic will provide patients who have previously experienced an ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke with review and risk factor optimisation for effective secondary prevention.
This Clinic will also provide service to patients who have incidental infarcts detected on neuroimaging.
The service does require a GP referral. Once your referral has been submitted, you will be offered an appointment with one of our Stroke Consultants to create a care plan for risk factor optimisation and if required, further investigations and appropriate follow-up will be arranged.

Patients who fall into the below categories are unsuitable for Beacon Brain Institute’s Stroke Clinics and should be immediately sent to their nearest public emergency department.
- ABCD2 score greater than 3
- Patient has had more than one recent episode (DUAL TIA)
- Known atrial fibrillation or on anticoagulation
- Known Carotid stenosis on the symptomatic side
