Satellite Day Unit

The Satellite Day Unit, or Minor Procedures Room, is located on the hospital’s third floor.

Not to be confused with the Surgical Day Unit, the Satellite Day Unit is used for patients needing minor procedures which do not require sedation or general anaesthetic.

Satellite Day Unit Procedures Include:

  • Breast Care

    Core Breast Biopsies
  • Dermatology

    Removal of moles, lesions, biopsies, shave and excisions, skin cancer removals etc
  • General

    Toenail removal
  • Ophthalmology

    Lucentis, Avastin, Eyelea injections for Macular Degeneration
  • Orthopaedics

    Joint injections, PRP’s etc
  • Pain Management

    Injections
  • Plastics

    Removal of lesions, scar repair, biopsies, skin cancer removal etc

Patients attending the Satellite Day Unit will have had prior consultation with their Consultant and will attend this unit for their scheduled minor procedure.

Patients should arrive 15 minutes before their appointment and can check in at the unit on the third floor.

For enquiries regarding your appointment or for changes to your Satellite Day Unit appointment, you must contact the offices of your Consultant directly.

All Satellite Day Unit appointments are booked directly through your Consultant’s secretary and any amends must be made in the same manner.

We advise that you avoid bringing valuables into the hospital with you. Any items brought are at your own risk. You will have to remove all jewelry before going into your surgery.
