Physiotherapy Class: Fit for Life
We at Beacon Hospital understand how important it is for cancer survivors to return to the world of exercise and fitness, not just for their physical lifestyle, but to help their mental health too.
Our Fit for Life programme is a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation program specifically tailored for cancer survivors.
The programme is run once a week over the course of six weeks and is comprised of advice and exercise sessions. These sessions are run by our Chartered Physiotherapists, Dietitians and Occupational Therapy teams.
What is Covered?
Our comprehensive team will cover subjects such as:
- Benefits of and appropriate pacing of exercising based on individual patient cases.
- Healthy eating and the impact this has on your rehabilitation and how you feel.
- Relaxation strategies and stress management techniques. We understand how difficult coming out of treatment is. This is why we want to make this process as manageable as possible.
- Supplementary Q&A sessions on all the above topics, and any other concerns you may have.
Each advice appointment will be accompanied by a 1-hour exercise session. Throughout the programme you will be closely monitored by your Physiotherapist and Dietitian to ensure you are achieving your goals of regular activity and healthy lifestyle.
You will be monitored for 3, 6 or 12 months after completing the program to reassess your progress and ascertain what changes you can incorporate to move further forward.
