Ms Ruth Delaney talks to Newstalk on Mixed Reality Shoulder Replacement Surgery
Ms Ruth Delaney, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Beacon Hospital, spoke to Newstalk’s Jess Kelly about advanced mixed reality shoulder replacement surgery; a procedure Ms Delaney was the first orthopaedic surgeon in Ireland to perform at Beacon Hospital.
This approach allows the surgery to be planned virtually in advance, helping to map the best course of action for the patient. In theatre, 3D blueprints and mixed reality support more precise positioning and fit, with potential benefits for both surgical accuracy and long-term outcomes.
Listen to the segment: Newstalk – VR surgery (skip to 33 minutes).
