CT Coronary Angiogram (CTCA)
Beacon Hospital is proud to introduce Ireland’s first Siemens SOMATOM Pro.Pulse CT system, now dedicated solely to CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA). This advanced technology significantly expands our CTCA capacity and provides the highest quality non-invasive cardiac imaging for patients.
The SOMATOM Pro.Pulse delivers exceptional image clarity, intelligent motion correction, and ultra-low radiation doses. With faster scans, improved comfort and enhanced diagnostic accuracy, it supports earlier detection of coronary artery disease and more effective clinical decision-making.
The CTCA service is now available seven days a week, including early morning, evening and weekend appointments.
CT Coronary Angiogram
A CT Coronary Angiogram is a non-invasive scan that uses advanced CT imaging and contrast dye to assess the coronary arteries. It is an excellent early diagnostic tool for coronary artery disease.
There is no recovery time and most appointments take approximately 20 minutes.

CTCA Referrals
Patients must be referred by a GP or consultant. Referrals can be made via:

Referral Criteria
CTCA is particularly appropriate for:
- Assessment of suspected coronary artery disease in intermediate-risk patients
- Chest pain of uncertain origin
- Patients with inconclusive or abnormal cardiac stress testing
- Patients requiring a non-invasive coronary assessment

Official Opening of of Ireland’s First Siemens SOMATOM Pro.Pulse CT Scanner
in December 2025 we officially opened our new Siemens SOMATOM Pro.Pulse CT system, the first and only installation of its kind in Ireland. The new scanner is dedicated exclusively to CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA).
This investment significantly expands our CTCA capacity and provides enhanced diagnostic accuracy, ultra-low radiation doses and improved comfort for patients.
