Intermittent Fasting Advice with Dr Grant

Are you considering intermittent fasting?
A woman in her 50’s reached out to Dr Grant this week for advice on losing a few kilos and dropping a dress size. She is wondering if intermittent fasting would be a good way to achieve her goals.
Firstly, Dr Grant emphasises how important it is to focus on body fat and fitting a lower dress size rather than looking at weight. As well as fasting, it is important to exercise and eat the right foods to see the result you want. In addition, it is vital to get good sleep and reduce stress. Sleep in particular is the foundation for good health!
Dr Grant gives her best recommendations for losing weight, and structuring your day while intermittent fasting. Staring off with 16.8, fasting for 16 hours and eating within an 8-hour window is an easy way to begin. Dr Grant also discusses work outs and exercise to compliment fasting to get effective and healthy results.
Remember cardiovascular exercise isn’t needed everyday, your body will appreciate rest days each week. Diet, including what you eat and when you eat, is the biggest factor in changing your body shape.
Each week, Dr Jennifer Grant, Physician at Beacon HealthCheck answers your questions on Independent.ie.
