Adenoids Removal Advice by Dr Grant

Dr Grant was recently asked by a concerned family for advice on their three-year-old having their adenoids removed. These are small lumps of tissue above the roof of the mouth. Both the removal of the tonsil and adenoids are among the most commonly performed surgical procedures for children.
Most surgeons will take a conservative approach and only perform surgery if it is in the best interest of the child. The decision for surgery should be made on a case by case basis. The main indications for the removal of tonsils or adenoids are airway obstruction of recurrent infection.
If you are concerned about any health issues, don’t delay. Visit your GP and get it checked.
