Ms Yasmin Ismail Discusses Birth Trauma with Irish Examiner

Yasmin Ismail, Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon here at Beacon Hospital spoke to the Irish Examiner about Birth Trauma. The Irish Examiner investigated the implications of physical trauma due to childbirth by talking with Ireland’s experts.

Yasmin explained that more than 80% of women giving birth experience trauma of the perineal and vaginal tissues. The physical impacts of birth trauma vary and injuries can include tears, scarring and fistulisation.
