Dr Grant Discusses the Potential Cause of Belly Button Pain

A patient asks Dr Grant about a pain at their belly button. The patient noticed the pain recently but only occasionally bothers them with a sharp pain, or if they push in on their belly button.
Dr Grant discusses how this pain may be an umbilical hernia, which is common and can be caused by a number of factors. Umbilical hernias can be found in 25-50% of individuals screened by a physical exam or ultrasound scan.
