It’s Beacon Hospital’s 15th Birthday!

Today Beacon Hospital is celebrating 15 Years since the Official Opening on 25th October 2006. Our 15th Anniversary is a great time to celebrate where we have come from and also a time to celebrate just how much has changed.

Beacon Hospital Under Construction

Though the official opening was the 25th October, the hospital first opened to patients in November 2006. The hospital covered 9 floors with 108 beds and included 8 operating theatres with dedicated rooms for Neurosurgery, Urology, Cardiology, General, Orthopaedic and Ophthalmic Surgery.

When the Hospital first opened in 2006, there were 21 consultants. Today we have 284 consultants working in the hospital. Of the 21 consultants here in 2006, 16 are still here today!

Beacon Hospital

Today Beacon Hospital has over 1,700 staff and consultants. In 2006, Beacon Hospital opened with just 140 employees! So many of the 140 original staff members are still working in Beacon Hospital.

Over the years, the hospital has continued to expand and develop at a rapid rate and there are more exciting growth plans in development. Beacon Hospital continues to grow and improve for the care of our patients, and this would not be possible without our incredible staff members. Beacon Hospital is a testament to the wonderful team we have across all departments both medical and non-medical. 

It is great to have these milestones to look back and to celebrate the growth of the hospital.
