Training:

Dr Buckmaster graduated with a BA in Psychology in 2004 from Trinity College Dublin. She completed a Research Masters in Health Psychology (Psycho-oncology) in 2008 from Dublin City University. In 2011, Dr Buckmaster graduated from the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Trinity College Dublin. She has 12 years of postgraduate experience working in the public and private sector.

Experience:

Dr Buckmaster is highly proficient in conducting psychological assessment, formulation, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention with children, adolescents and adults. Therapeutic approaches include Attachment-based family therapy (ABFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Narrative Therapy. In addition to her work in the private sector, Dr Buckmaster has spent the last 9 years working in HSE Linn Dara Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services with children and adolescents experiencing acute and enduring mental health difficulties. She has also worked in Adult Mental Health Services in the community and within an inpatient setting.

Dr Buckmaster enjoys teaching as evidenced by her lecturing role in Dublin City University and her role of Visiting Lecturer on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2012 – 2019) lecturing on topics such as Depression, Anxiety, Sexuality and Report-writing. She regularly provides Clinical and Research supervision for Psychologists in Clinical training. She has participated in community outreach education workshops and has a keen interest in facilitating staff training sessions. Dr Buckmaster has a strong commitment to professional development and spent time as a committee member on the Division of Clinical Psychology in the Psychological Society of Ireland. She has a number of publications in professionally recognised journals and has completed many research presentations at national and international conferences.
