Training:

In 2003, Mr Shawkat Abdulrahman graduated from Al Mustansiriyah University College of Medicine in Iraq. He then joined the training programme in Otolaryngology from 2006 – 2011 in the Kingdom of Jordan. During this time, he also completed a Diploma of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in Edinburgh (2011), both the Arab and Jordan Health Board Specialization in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (2012), and a Fellowship from the European Board Examination in OtoRhinoLaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (2012).

Following this Mr Abdulrahman moved to Italy to attend Ospedale di Circolo e Fondazione Macchi in Varese which is a prestigious, globally recognized centre. Here Mr Abdulrahman completed a Fellowship in Rhinoplasty and Facial Reconstructive Surgery under Prof Pietro Palma, and a Fellowship in Endoscopic Sinus and Anterior Skull Base Surgery under Prof Paolo Castelnuovo.

Mr Abdulrahman has since moved to Dublin, Ireland and is now a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the American College of Surgeons.

Experience:

Mr Abdulrahman has over 17 years’ experience and has worked in ENT Departments in Ireland, United Kingdom, Italy, Jordan and Iraq. Since 2014, he has been a visiting consultant to Iraq to perform advanced and complex Sinonasal cases.

Mr Abdulrahman began as a Consultant ENT Surgeon in Tallaght Hospital in 2018 taking on Rhinology, Endoscopic Skull Base, Facial and Otolaryngology Surgeries. In this role he also collaborated with Cork University Hospital’s Neurosurgeon to perform complex endoscopic skull base surgeries.
