Training & Education:

Dr Nikita Deegan graduated with honours from University College Dublin in 2011. She completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology across Dublin’s three tertiary maternity hospitals: The Rotunda Hospital, The Coombe Hospital and The National Maternity Hospital.

She was appointed Assistant Master at The Rotunda Hospital before receiving her Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST). Dr Deegan then undertook fellowship training in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology at University College London Hospital (UCLH) under the supervision of internationally recognised specialist Professor Sarah Creighton. Following completion of her fellowship, she was awarded an honorary contract at UCLH and continues to maintain strong links with the multidisciplinary team there for complex cases.

Experience:

Dr Nikita Deegan is a Consultant Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecologist at Beacon Hospital, The Rotunda Hospital and Children’s Health Ireland (CHI). In 2023, she was appointed Consultant to Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street and The Rotunda Hospital, where she established Ireland’s first dedicated multidisciplinary service for patients with complex congenital gynaecological conditions.

Her clinical practice focuses on the care of children, adolescents and young people with a wide range of gynaecological conditions including vulvo-vaginitis, labial fusion, menstrual disorders, absent or infrequent periods, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and ovarian cysts in children and adolescents.

Dr Deegan has a specialist interest in Complex Congenital Gynaecology, including structural and developmental variations of the genital tract such as hymenal variants, vaginal septa, Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, OHVIRA syndrome, uterine (Müllerian) anomalies, Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI), and Differences of Sex Development (DSD) including Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome and Swyer Syndrome.

Dr Deegan’s speciality focuses on the care of children, adolescents and young people with gynaecological concerns, including but not limited to:
