Training:
Dr Mark Howard graduated from RCSI in 2005. He completed his general medical training in Dublin and then gained further experience in Oncology and Palliative Care. He moved to the UK to complete his higher specialist training in Palliative Care in the East of England in 2012. He also completed a diploma in Palliative Care in King’s College London and a Masters in Business Administration.
Experience:
Dr Mark Howard is a Consultant Physician in Palliative Medicine.
He worked as a consultant in a North East London NHS trust and a specialist palliative care unit. He has published articles in peer review journals and has his areas of interest include action research, outcome measures, vehicle driving safety and digital health in palliative care. In the UK he led on the development of research infrastructure at his hospice which enabled it to engage in multi-centre trials. He developed the digital palliative care coordination systems and was the medical lead for the outcome measure programme across two hospices.
Dr Howard has an interest in improving patient pathways for palliative care patients, as well as developing palliative services to adapt to the changing population demographic.
