Prof Basil Elnazir

Prof Basil Elnazir is a Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at both Beacon for Kids and Children’s Health Ireland.

Prof Elnazir has a special clinical and research interest in asthma, recurrent chest infections, bronchiectasis, chronic cough, cystic fibrosis and paediatric sleep medicine.

Prof Basil Elnazir earned his PhD from the University of Birmingham before his training in General Paediatrics & Respiratory Medicine in Ireland and the UK.

Throughout his career he has held many key leadership positions with the Asthma Society of Ireland and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. He was also the chair of the medical advisory group of the Asthma Society of Ireland and a member of the National Severe Asthma Group. During his time at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, he served as a National Speciality Director of Paediatrics in the Faculty of Paediatrics.

Prof Elnazir is also a Clinical Professor in Paediatric Medicine at Trinity College Dublin.

He has published extensively in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at national and international meetings. Additionally Prof Elnazir has served as an Editor and Reviewer to many Paeds medical journals.
