Education & Experience:
Dr Thomas Hennessy (also known as Dr Tommy Hennessy) is originally from Tipperary. He graduated, with honours, from the UCD School of Medicine (Ireland) in 2011, before completing his basic physician training in Royal Perth Hospital, Australia. He then went on to complete a two year Cardiology research MD fellowship at the University of Western Australia on the role of inflammation in coronary artery disease culminating in several high impact publications and achieving the prestigious Irish Cardiac Society Brian Maurer Young Investigator award.
Dr Hennessy returned to Ireland in early 2018 to complete his general cardiology training initially working in the Heart Failure Unit in St. Michaels, Dun Laoghaire with subsequent cardiology general training years in St. Vincent’s Hospital Dublin, Galway University Hospital, St. James’s Hospital, Dublin and University Hospital Limerick. This was followed by a subspecialty interventional cardiology fellowship at University Hospital North Midlands, a leading high volume interventional cardiology centre in the United Kingdom. Dr Hennessy went on to complete a further subspecialty complex coronary fellowship in the Mater University Hospital, Dublin.
Dr Hennessy’s areas of specific training and expertise include complex coronary interventions, intra-coronary imaging as well as all aspects of general preventative cardiology including management of hypertension, dyslipidaemia and lifestyle modification.
