Training:
Dr Sven Sommer received his medical degree from the University of Duisburg-Essen Medical School in 2006. He then entered the German Specialist Training Program in Anaesthesiology at the University Hospital Essen which he completed in 2011 when he was awarded the Specialist Recognition.
From 2012 he was a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the Ludwig Maximilians University Hospital in Munich where he completed three specialist fellowships in Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, and Pain Medicine. Since 2008 he has been continuously teaching in the fields of (Pediatric) Pain Medicine, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.
Experience:
Dr Sommer was a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the University Hospital Essen and the Ludwig Maximilians University Hospital in Munich before he became Head of the Pain Clinic at the Havelhoehe Hospital, a Teaching Hospital of the Charité in Berlin.
From 2020 he led the Pain Medicine Department of the Asklepios Clinics in the Berlin Metropolitan area before he was appointed Head of the related Medical Care Centre.
Dr Sommer relocated to Ireland in 2022 and joined Beacon Hospital shortly thereafter.
