Mr Rory Murphy

Mr Murphy is a Consultant Eye Surgeon at Beacon Hospital. He was awarded his Undergraduate Medical Degree with Honours from University College Dublin (MB BCh BAO) prior to his postgraduate training in Surgical Ophthalmology with the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland and the Irish College of Ophthalmology. During this time, he completed a Masters in Cataract and Refractive Surgery (University of Ulster) and a Diploma in Healthcare Economics (National University of Ireland). He has a keen research interest in Glaucoma and was awarded a Medical Doctorate (MD) (University College Dublin) and the annual Irish College of Ophthalmology Research Bursary for his research exploring Mechanotransduction at the Lamina Cribrosa. On completion of postgraduate training, he was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Surgical Training (CCST), Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI Ophthalmology). He then travelled to Melbourne to undertake a Subspecialist Fellowship in Surgical Glaucoma at the world-renowned Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, before returning to Ireland in 2023.
