Experience:
Prof David Coghlan is a paediatrician appointed to Beacon Hospital, the National Children’s Hospital (NCH), Tallaght and Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin (OLHC). He is a clinical associate Professor in Trinity College Dublin.
He qualified from UCD in 1992 and completed his fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. Paediatrics and the care of children is a rapidly changing specialty. The majority of children are treated as day cases or for short overnight stay to minimise time away from home. This model of care is the way of the future and treating children in their own home is not too far away. This is his philosophy also and something he feels quite strongly about as a doctor and a parent.
Dr Coghlan’s recent publications focus on de-labelling penicillin allergy and the management of anaphylaxis.
