Training & Experience

Mr Olan Carmody is a Fellowship-trained Orthopaedic & Spine Consultant in Tallaght University Hospital, the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and in the National Spinal Institute at the Beacon Hospital. During his Irish Higher Surgical Training Scheme, he trained under some of Ireland’s best spine surgeons in all the major Orthopaedic Spine Centres in the country. He trained for two years in the National Spinal Injuries Unit in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. He then completed an excellent International Orthopaedic & Neurosurgical Spine Fellowship in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.

Mr Carmody specialises in all adult spinal conditions including degenerative spinal conditions, spinal trauma, osteoporotic fractures, degenerative spinal deformity and microscopic/minimally invasive spinal surgery. He has presented his research both nationally and internationally on over twenty occasions – winning three prizes. He remains heavily involved in training, completing a number of years as the Orthopaedic Representative on the Irish Higher Surgical Training Committee.
