Training:

Dr O’Reilly graduated from University College Dublin School of Medicine with a gold medal in Surgery in 2011. Basic medical training was completed at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. In 2014 he obtained a Masters (MSc) in 3D printing in anatomy, prior to commencing higher specialist training in Radiology at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

He completed his Fellowship of the Faculty of Radiologists (RCSI) in 2017 and undertook further training as the HSE’s 2018 Dr Richard Steevens’ Scholar at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA in neuroradiology and interventional radiology.

Experience:

Dr O’Reilly is a Consultant Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist reporting computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR), Ultrasound and X-rays. He also performs diagnostic and therapeutic imaged guided procedures.

Dr O’Reilly has been awarded ten local, national and international scholarships and awards to date, including an RSNA Research Fellow Grant with total funding in excess of €175,000. In addition to clinical radiology, his research interests include Health Services Research. This field of study focuses on the most effective ways to organise, manage, finance and deliver high quality care, and improve patient safety. This culminated in a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) in 2021 from the University of Washington, a top 5 School of Public Health in the USA.

In 2021, Dr O’Reilly held the position of Consultant Oncoradiologist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester, the largest single site cancer centre in Europe before returning to Ireland to work at University Hospital Limerick and Beacon Limerick.

Dr O’Reilly’s specialties are Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology and his areas of interest include head & neck imaging, thyroid ultrasound & biopsy, vascular imaging, and oncologic imaging. His research interests include Health Services Research, 3D Printing in Radiology and stroke, osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures and AI. Dr O’Reilly also enjoys education and registrar teaching.
