Training
Dr Ibrahim Imam received his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in 1989, before going on to specialise in Internal Medicine and Neurology. He became a Fellow of the Nigerian and West African Postgraduate Medical Colleges in 2000, and later pursued further training in Clinical Neurology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Simulation and Patient Safety from the University of Plymouth.
Experience:
Dr Imam is a Consultant Neurologist in Beacon Hospital. Dr Imam’s areas of specialty include neuropathies and neuromuscular disorders, as well as a broad range of neurological conditions such as migraines, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and sleep disorders.
Outside of his practice he also runs The Neurology Lounge Podcast, Neurochecklist an online neurology database and The Doctors Bookshelf a book review blog.
Additionally Dr Imam has published over 30 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and contributed a chapter to the Oxford Handbook: Headache – A Practical Manual. He is a published author of three books; 700 Neurology Checklists, Surfing the Brain: An Exploration of the Fringes of Neurology and Human Factors and Patient Safety: A Primer for Doctors and Medical Students.
