Dr Aftab Jan MBBS, MRCPI.
Dr. Jan is a Consultant in Cardiology with a sub specialty interest in Coronary Intervention. He trained in Cardiology in St. Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin and St. James’s University Hospital Dublin. He was awarded specialist status in 2013. Prior to that, he also obtained specialist training in General Internal Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. During his training, he undertook research at University College Dublin in advanced heart failure studies, natriuretic peptides and markers of myocardial fibrosis in heart failure, leading to several publications. Dr Jan then completed further specialist training with an Interventional Fellowship at the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital in the UK. Here he spent a year learning complex coronary angioplasty skills with leading operators in the field. In 2014 he was appointed Consultant Interventional Cardiologist in Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust and Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust UK, where he was also the Cardiology Research Lead and Principal Investigator on several Cardiology trials.
Dr. Jan deals with all aspects of adult general cardiology. His specialist interests are the prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease, performing simple and complex angioplasty, including chronic total occlusion angioplasty, coronary artery pressure studies and intracoronary imaging.
