Training & Education:
After graduating from University College Dublin, Mr Diarmuid Moloney completed higher surgical training in Orthopaedic Surgery in Ireland in 2010. He then spent a year in Australia as Clinical Fellow in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Royal North Shore Hospital (University of Sydney), and as Trans-Tasman Shoulder and Elbow Fellow in Christchurch in New Zealand.
Mr Moloney also undertook two visiting Fellowships which focused on elbow reconstruction in the Hand and Upper Limb Centre, London Ontario and Mayo Clinic, Rochester Minnesota. In September 2011, Mr Moloney returned to Ireland as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
Experience:
Mr Moloney is currently a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery in Beacon Hospital at Beacon Centre for Orthopaedics. His interests are in post-traumatic elbow and shoulder reconstruction, shoulder and elbow instability and joint replacement of the shoulder and elbow.
Additionally, Mr Molony has published over 20 peer reviewed publications and a book chapter. He has a Masters in Surgery and ongoing research interests in traumatic shoulder and elbow injuries, and sports injuries.
Mr Moloney is an AO trauma instructor and was previously this groups Dublin meeting Chair. Mr Moloney has also acted on faculty for both national and international meetings on shoulder and elbow reconstruction and trauma surgery. He also has strong involvement in higher surgical and post graduate training in Trauma and Shoulder & Elbow surgery.
Mr Moloney is both the current President of the Irish Shoulder and Elbow Society and a founding member. He is also a member of international societies including the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) and the European Shoulder and Elbow Society (SECEC). In Ireland, Mr Moloney is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a member of both the Irish Institute of Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and the Irish Orthopaedic Association.
