Dr Damien Rushe, B.A., M.Sc., D.Clin.Psych.
Senior Paediatric Clinical Psychologist
Dr Rushe is a Senior Clinical Psychologist, working with children and adolescents. Dr Rushe holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from the National University of Ireland, Galway, a Masters degree in applied psychology from Trinity College Dublin, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, & Neuroscience at King’s College London.
Dr Rushe has worked in a variety of psychological services for children and young people across Ireland and the UK, including both primary care psychology services, and child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS). As part of his doctoral training, he completed a placement at the national and specialist Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression Clinic in the internationally-renowned Michael Rutter Centre for Children & Young People at the Maudsley Hospital, London. His doctoral thesis focused on the cognitive processes that lead to depression in adolescents.
Dr Rushe is highly experienced in treating the most commonly experienced psychological difficulties in children and adolescents, including low mood or anxiety-related difficulties, and predominantly utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). He is also skilled in assisting parents/carers to support children and adolescents who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems. Dr Rushe is qualified to perform neuropsychological assessments and psycho-educational assessments for children or adolescents who may be presenting with queried developmental or learning difficulties.
As a clinical psychologist, Dr Rushe does not prescribe medication but works to understand difficulties from a psychological perspective.
