Mr Brendan Fennessy

BSc MD FRCSI (ORL-HNS)

Mr. Fennessy is an Irish trained Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist. Having completed an undergraduate degree in Biotechnology at Dublin City University, he studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, graduating in 2002.

During his extensive ENT training, he has worked, trained and studied at various centres nationally and internationally, including Paediatric ENT at Children’s Hospital Boston.

In 2012 he was awarded a Master of Degree of Doctor (MD) from University College Cork in 2012 for research in basic fibroblast growth factor in head and neck cancer.

Mr. Fennessy is trained in all aspects of ear, nose and throat conditions. He spent one year completing sub-specialist fellowship training in the field of Rhinology at TUFTS University in Boston. Under the care of Professor Peter Catalano, he has gained considerable experience in the management of patients with all nasal/sinus conditions and surgical management of sleep apnoea (adults and children).

Upon completion of his fellowship training, he worked as an ENT consultant at Eastern Maine Medical Centre, Maine, USA for three years before returning to Ireland in 2017.

Ms Emma Cashman

Ms. Cashman (MB BAO BCh BMedSci FRCSI) is an Irish trained ENT specialist. She graduated from medicine in U.C.C with honours in 2003. After completing her basic surgical training she was appointed to the higher surgical training scheme in otolaryngology in 2007, receiving her fellowship in otolaryngology from the RCSI in 2014. 

During her extensive ENT training she has worked and studied at numerous centres both nationally and internationally including a year of research in the prestigious Dana-Farber cancer Institute/ Harvard Medical School in 2011. She has over 20 peer reviewed publications, multiple citations, book chapters and has won several awards for her presentations both nationally and internationally. She is trained in all aspects of ENT surgery and passed the Otolaryngology Head & Neck surgery examination of the Royal College of Surgeons in England in 2013. She has been a senior clinical lecturer in postgraduate surgery in Trinity College Dublin since 2015 and was awarded an assistant professorship in 2018. 

She worked as a consultant in Tallaght University Hospital from 2015-2017 and as a consultant in the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital’s from 2017-present.

She is a member of the RSM London, RAMI & RCSI.

Ms Ann O’Connor

Ann O’Connor BSc (Eng), MA, MB Bch BAO, DOHNS, MD, FRCSI (ORL-HNS) is a Consultant Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Surgeon. She graduated with an honours degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 2006. After completing her Basic Surgical Training, she was appointed to the Higher Surgical Training Scheme in Otolaryngology in 2010 and was awarded her Fellowship in Otolaryngology from RCSI in 2015. She completed her Doctorate of Medicine (MD) thesis on ‘The implementation of newborn hearing screening programme in Ireland’ through the University College Cork in 2016. Ann is both a national and international invited speaker in this area.

Ann completed a prestigious Skull Base and Otology fellowship working between Guys hospital, Kings College hospital and the National Neurology and Neurosurgical hospital in London, UK. Ann has a strong clinical and research training in all aspects of otology and has a number of academic awards, distinctions and peer reviewed publications.

Ann offers a professional service that comprehensively covers all areas of general ENT (adult and paediatric) with a specialist interest in otology.

Ms Deirdre Fitzgerald

Deirdre Fitzgerald MB BCh BAO BMed Sc IMRCSI DOHNS MCh FRCSI (ORL-HNS) is a Consultant Ear, Nose, Throat & Facial Plastic Surgeon. Her adult and paediatric practices encompass the generality of ENT, along with her dual specialist interests of Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery. Since graduating from University College Dublin in 2002, she has attained her Bachelor of Medical Science, Diploma of Head & Neck Surgery, Masters in Surgery for her thesis on Voice, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Deirdre has worked in Irish, Australian and UK ENT Departments. In 2015, she worked as an ENT Consultant at St Vincent’s University Hospital, prior to taking up the prestigious London St George’s Fellowship in Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery. At St George’s, she received world-class training under ENT, Facial Plastic, Anterior Skull Base, Maxillofacial and Moorfields-Occuloplastic Surgeons.

Deirdre has presented her research internationally, and has won several awards. She is enrolled on the Specialist Register in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, with both the Irish Medical Council and the UK GMC. She is a member of the European Association of Facial Plastic Surgery, RCSI and the RSM, London.

Deirdre is regularly invited to teach on the London Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Course, the London Facial Plastic Surgery Course and also the St George’s Hospital Rhinoplasty Course.

Prof. Michael Colreavy specialises in Paediatric and adult ENT care. He is based at Beacon Hospital, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

Mr Paul Burns

Mr Paul Burns, ENT surgeon, MB, AFRCSI, FRCS(ORL).

Mr Burns graduated with an Honours degree from RCSI in 2000. After completing his Basic Surgical Training, he was appointed to the Higher Surgical Training Scheme in Otolaryngology in 2004 and received his Fellowship in Otolaryngology from RCSI in 2010.

To further his training, he spent a year at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, UK, as the Rhinology Fellow to Professor Nick Jones, Europe’s leading Rhinologist, to enhance patient care with all nasal and sinus pathologies.

He returned to Ireland and commenced practice at the Beacon Hospital where he works full time with both adults and children.
