GE Voyager 1.5T
Silentscan technology reduced scanning noise from 91dB (the same level of noise as a motorcycle) to just 3dB of scan room ambient noise. The bore, opening of the machine the patient is moved into for scanning, is a wide and spacious 70cm. This caters for those who are nervous of small spaces and also for larger patients.
Patients can breath freely as this new technology allows for complete body exams without a single breath hold. Needle free imaging capabilities enable non- contrast MR scans that eliminate the need for needles, again easing patient anxiety. Enhanced image quality allows for more accurate examination.
GE Discovery MR750 3T
Silentscan technology greatly reduced noise during scanning. This, teamed with a wider bore, more comfortable table and our mood lit comfort suite makes for a more pleasant and patient friendly experience.
Increased signal clarity and maximized intensity allow for cleaner, crisper images which are completed in a shorter amount of time. Fast automated patient set-up allows patients to be set-up in just 30 seconds. This greatly reduces the amount of time the patient has to spend on the table, again this increases patient comfort and reduces anxiety.
GE Revolution CT Scanner
Beacon Hospital’s new GE Revolution CT Scanner captures superior 4D cardiac images, in less than a heartbeat, and with up to 82% less Radiation Exposure. It’s the most technologically advanced in Ireland.
Computed Tomography (CT) is a non-invasive and expedient way to look inside the body at organs, soft tissues, vascular structures and bones. CT uses x-rays to generate very high resolution images of the body. It works by rotating an x-ray source and detector around the patient as the patient is moved through the device. Computer software is then used to reconstruct images from the information that is gathered during the rotations.
Revolution CT helps deliver a better patient experience during the procedure. Patient anxiety may be reduced with 50% quieter scanning, soft ambient lighting, personalized gantry displays, and a relaxing visual pattern inside the bore. The bore is 80 cm wide, comfortably accommodating large patients.
Revolution CT comes equipped with ASiR-V, GE’s next generation of low dose iterative reconstruction technology that routinely reduces dose up to 82% with the same image quality.
Hologic Selenia Dimensions
Breast tomosynthesis is an exciting technology that has revolutionised breast imaging. It has demonstrated value in both screening and diagnostic evaluations. Breast tomosynthesis is a new technology in the fight against breast cancer and may be used in conjunction with traditional digital mammography to capture more breast images. Just as with a digital Breast, tomosynthesis allows doctors to examine breast tissue one layer at a time.
The improvements in clinical performance, compared to 2D mammography, are significant. Multiple peer-reviewed clinical publications report that the use of two-view tomo in screening offers both improved cancer detection rates and reduced callback rates compared to 2D alone.
Clinical studies using the Hologic 3D mammography system have demonstrated superior performance in the detection of masses and architectural distortions. This use of breast tomosynthesis and digital mammography together has been proven to reduce “ call-backs”.
