Shane O’Brien

Shane O’Brien is a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in Beacon Hospital. Shane qualified with 1st class honours in Physiotherapy from Brunel University, London (2013) and initially worked in the NHS where he progressed to work as a Senior Musculoskeletal & Orthopaedics Physiotherapist. Shane recently completed his Masters in Sports Physiotherapy in UCD (2019) during which he completed his research thesis on the subject of blood flow occlusion training.

Since moving back to Ireland in 2015 Shane has worked predominantly in private practice managing a varied caseload of patients with chronic neck and low back pain, acute sports injuries, and post-op rehabilitation. He uses his expertise in assessment, exercise prescription and strength & conditioning to compliment his treatment skills in manual therapy and dry needling to ensure you are immediately working along the path to recovery and towards achieving your goals.

Having previously worked in professional rugby, soccer and GAA, Shane brings expertise in the areas of strength & conditioning and injury prevention. With a previous degree in Sports & Exercise Sciences (2009), Shane has extensive experience of working as a Strength & Conditioning coach with a New Zealand professional rugby team, Counties Manukau RFU.

As a keen sports fan himself, Shane enjoys playing GAA and previously played senior hurling for Clare.
