Ian Byrne

Senior Physiotherapist Musculoskeletal Outpatients

Ian graduated with an Honours degree in Physiotherapy (2009) and a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine (2012) from the Trinity College Dublin. He was the winner of the prestigious 2012 Carol Russell prize for best performance in Musculoskeletal examination on the Sports and Exercise Medicine Master’s Program.  Ian also holds a Certificate in Spinal Manual Therapy and has completed post graduate courses in Acupuncture, Dry Needling and lower limb biomechanics. Ian has recently developed an interest in the treatment and management of ‘dizziness’, following the completion of postgraduate courses in Vestibular rehabilitation.

Ian has worked extensively in the private sector and with teams at club, representative and international level in GAA, Rugby and Association Football. He has previously worked in Private Physiotherapy clinics and Primary Care where he treated a wide variety of Orthopaedic, Sports and Occupational injuries. He has a specific interest in Sports Medicine and treating complex soft tissue injuries of the Hamstring and Groin.

Ian is a keen GAA player, currently playing Gaelic football with Thomas Davis GAA club. Ian is currently Physiotherapist to the Thomas Davis Senior football team. Ian is a key member of our developing Sports Medicine Programme and has proven to be a tremendous asset to our team.
