Doireann Murtagh

Senior Physiotherapist Musculoskeletal Outpatients

Doireann joined the Beacon out-patient team, as a Senior Physiotherapist in July 2018.

She graduated with an Honours Degree from Trinity College, Dublin (2009) and since has gained extensive experience primarily in Musculoskeletal and Orthopedic Physiotherapy both at home and abroad. While working in a Sports Rehabilitation Department in Singapore she developed a particular interest in rehabilitation through exercise, sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions, and returned home to do a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine, Trinity College Dublin. Since, she has worked for nearly six years in both private practice and hospital settings in Australia holding posts such as Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedics as well as a Team Lead Physiotherapist position.

Doireann has a clinical interest in Back pain. She coordinates our multidisciplinary Back Rehabilitation Programme at the Beacon. She also recently completed a post graduate Diploma in Pain Physiotherapy with the European Pain Federation, where she was the recipient of the 2019 Louis Gifford Prize for the highest scoring candidate in the Examination.

Outside of Physiotherapy, Doireann enjoys keeping fit and active. She enjoys all types of sports and loves getting outside cycling, running and hiking. She also practices Pilates and is a certified STOTT Reformer Pilates Instructor and APPI Matwork Instructor. She gives Lunch time and morning Pilates classes at the Beacon.
