The Fit for Life Programme is a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation program for cancer survivors. The programme is run once a week for 6 weeks and is comprised of advice and exercise sessions. Advice sessions are provided by physiotherapy, dietetics and occupational therapy and will cover topics such as
- Exercise Pacing – How do I know if I am doing too much or too little?
- Healthy eating
- Relaxation strategies / stress management strategies
- Supplementary question and answer sessions on the above topics
Each advice session will be accompanied by a 1 hour exercise session. Throughout the programme you will be closely monitored by the physiotherapist and dietitian to ensure you are achieving your goals of regular activity and health lifestyle. You will be monitored 3, 6 and 12 months after completing the program to reassess your progress.
