He undertook his formal advanced minimally invasive surgery (key hole) training at the minimal access therapy training unit (MATTU)- one of the leading institutes  for laparoscopic surgery in the UK and worldwide- which culminated in a postgraduate diploma in advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Mr Kamran undertook an RCOG approved fellowship in surgical management of gynaecological cancer. During this three years long clinical fellowship, he received an unparalleled multi-organ surgical training in the management of gynaecological cancers.

Experience:

As well as being able to surgically deal with all kinds of simple and complex benign gynaecological conditions- heavy menstrual loss requiring trans-cervical resection of endometrium/fibroid (TCRE/TCRF), ovarian cysts, deep infiltrating endometriosis of all stages necessitating radical excision of disease process, uterovaginal prolapse demanding laparoscopic hysterectomy, and pelvic floor repair, pelvic adhesions requiring tubal surgeries to help improve chances of natural conception and uterine fibroids demanding myomectomy- by open and endoscopic approaches,  Mr Kamran is passionate to use the most innovative surgical techniques for women with early, advanced and recurrent  malignancies of uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix and vulva.

He offers some of the latest cutting edge surgical treatments to his cancer patients including fertility preserving procedures in young patients with no children, ultra-radical cytoreductive surgery in advanced cancers to achieve no visible tumour following the procedure, sentinel as well as therapeutic lymph node dissection and robotic surgery which enables more patients with high body mass index to have key hole surgery resulting in better recovery and improved cosmetic outcomes.

His main area of expertise is ultra-radical cytoreductive surgery in ovarian, fallopian tube and primary peritoneal cancers which is considered to be the cornerstone in the surgical treatment of ovarian cancer to improve the overall survival. Over the last 5 years, Mr Kamran has pioneered the use of laparoscopic surgery in the field of gynaecological oncology in Ireland and has dedicated much of his time to expand and incorporate new surgical techniques in the surgical management of ovarian cancer. He is one of a handful of oncology surgeons in Europe who are proficient in performing such extensive multi-organ cytoreductive surgeries for gynaecological malignancies

He has published in peer-reviewed international journals and has presented his work in international conferences. His laboratory based research is into HE4 ovarian cancer biomarker and its potential role in the follow up of ovarian cancer.
