Training:

Ms Ismail is a dual qualified Consultant Plastic Surgeon having obtained both dental and medical qualifications in Glasgow and Newcastle in the United Kingdom.  She is on the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery with both the General Medical Council [GMC] and Irish Medical Council [IMC].

Following an anatomy demonstratorship at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’s Hospital in Central London in 2000, Basic Surgical Training was pursued in Bristol at Frenchay Hospital and followed by a clinical research post in Plastic Surgery in Newcastle in 2004.  A Higher Surgical Training post was awarded competitively and commenced in Liverpool with 5 years of further registrar training in Glasgow at the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery & Burns Unit.  Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons [FRCS[Plast]] was awarded in 2012 followed by entry into the Specialist Register.

Further subspecialty training was undertaken at the renowned Christie Cancer Hospital in Manchester focusing on skin cancer, soft tissue oncology, perineal & gynaecology reconstruction and microvascular surgery.  The prestigious, highly competitive Mentor Aesthetic Fellowship was awarded and undertaken at the distinguished King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, Central London and Harley Street.

Experience:

Ms Ismail worked as a Consultant at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin in 2014.  Since 2015, she has been based in the UK as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the NHS primarily in Scotland including the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit.

Whilst based in Dublin and Glasgow, she participated in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate plastic surgery trainees. She was an undergraduate (OSCE) medical school examiner at UCD and the University of Glasgow.  Ms Ismail remains actively involved in teaching was appointed as a GMC Associate in 2019.
